Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to examine the relationship between Internet addiction, risk taking behaviors and novelty seeking of university students. The sample of the study consisted of 476 students who were studying psychology and guidance and psychological counseling in Hasan Kalyoncu University, Sütçü İmam University Faculty of Medicine, Kahramanmaraş High School of Health, Kahramanmaraş Health Vocational School in 2017-2018. Sociodemographic information of the participants was collected, and Turkish forms of Young's Internet Addiction Test-Short Form (YIAT-SF), University Form of Risk Behavaiors Scale, and Novelty Seeking (NS) Scale of Temperament and Character Inventory were administered. The results of independent sample t-test revealed that the scores of male participants from YIAT-SF were significantly higher from ones of female participants. The results of multiple linear regression analysis revealed that Antisocial behavior, Smoking, Suicide Tendency, Nutrition habits, School stuff, Substance use, and novelty seeking were significant predictors of Internet addiction. Personal Accomplishment Prediction success overall was 22.4%. The findings were discussed in accordance with the literature.
