Abstract (EN)

In the globalizing world, there is a proportional increase in the use of the internet. Today, almost the whole world has access to the internet. However, this situation differs in developed, under developed-developing country groups due to socio-economic reasons. In this study, panel quantile regression models were analyzed to reveal how much the number of internet users was affected by which factors. While panel data models provide a multidimensional perspective to the analysis, quantile regression models allow modeling in the presence of extreme values and in cases where the distribution is not normal. Panel quantile regression models, on the other hand, allow modeling even for problems arising from extreme values and distribution. Panel quantile regression models, which allow modeling for different quantile values, measure the effect level of the dependent variable in different distributions of the explanatory variables. In the study, the variables thought to affect internet users were examined by panel quantile regression analysis for 14 countries between 2000 and 2018. In the first part of the study, quantile models and estimation methods, in the second part, together with panel models, estimation methods of panel quantile models and panel quantile regression literature, and in the last part, the application are mentioned. Keywords: Number of Internet Users, Quantile Regression, Panel Data Models, Panel Quantile Regression
