Research of the relationship between internet gaming disorder and metacognitions, cognitive emotion regulation and negative childhood experiences

Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders classification system includes diagnoses that show symptoms such as internet gaming disorder, tolerance, craving, and withdrawal in substance use disorders, which are recommended for further investigation, and which can be evaluated in main categories if sufficient evidence is collected. has found. The aim of this study, which has been examined independently in the literature; It aims to examine the relationships between the concepts of internet gaming disorder, metacognitions, cognitive emotion regulation and negative childhood experiences. For this purpose, a total of 577 volunteer participants (210 women, 367 men) were reached; sociodemographic form, questionnaire for general internet usage information, Internet Gaming Disorder Scale-Short Form (İOOBÖ9-SF), Metacognition Scale-30 (ÜBO-30), Young Internet Addiction Test Short Form (YİBT-SF), Cognitive Emotion Regulation Scale (BDI), Childhood Adverse Experiences Scale (COT) and Symptom Screening Scale (STÖ-45) were given. The research data were obtained by the questionnaire application and analyzed with the SPSS 26 package program. The survey study aims to reveal the relationship between internet gaming disorder and metacognitions, cognitive emotion regulation and negative childhood experiences between the ages of 18 and 65. According to the results of the study, a statistically significant positive correlation was found between internet gaming disorder and negative childhood experiences, metacognitions, internet addiction and cognitive emotion regulation.
