Abstract (EN)

In terms of perceived loudness, the differences between the levels of sound occurring in the broadcast streams of TV and radio channels, especially, when switching to another channel cause significant public complaints. This situation disturbs the users and creates the need to adjust the volume frequently via the remote control. It occurs mainly during the beginning of the programs and commercial contents. Considering the internet broadcasts of many TV and radio stations today due to the mobile life conditions, the audio signal level problems occur in the broadcasts over the internet. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the TV and radio channel broadcasting over the internet within the scope of the "Directive Regarding the Sound Level in complied with TV and Radio Broadcasts" published by RTÜK. In this context, the live broadcast streams of the TV and radio channels, which were determined as priorities, were recorded at certain periods. Following the editing of the commercial contents, all the contents were measured with a loudness meter using the ITU-R BS.1770-4 and EBU-R 128 algorithms. Along with 233 TV channels, 121 radio channels and 33 google ads, the loudness measurements of 387 commercial contents were analyzed. The measurement results are listed in accordance with the desired loudness parameters to show the averages separately and evaluated according to the received data.
