Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study to evaluate the effect of Curodont Repair, a biomimetic peptide (P11- 4) based remineralization agent applied after interproximal stripping, in comparison to Sodium fluoride (Enamelast) and Icon resin infiltrant. In the study, 4 groups, 1 control and 3 experimental groups, were formed by using a total of 48 teeth. All teeth were stripped with a crosscut tungsten carbide bur (KOM H33L 314 009) on their mesial and distal surfaces, after that diamond bur (KOM 859UF 314 014) used for surface smoothing, and then soflex disc (3M ESPE) was applied for polishing. After the stripping process, remineralization agents applied the groups except control group and then all teeth were divided into two in buccolingual direction and 96 samples were obtained. 80 samples were used (20 samples from each group) for microhardness examination, 16 samples (2 samples from each group for each examination) used for surface roughness analysis by scanning electron microscope(SEM) and atomic force microscope(AFM). When the results were evaluated according to the averages, the highest microhardness values were observed in the fluor group. Although the microhardness values of the Curodont group were higher than the Icon applied group, the difference between them was not statistically significant (p=0.068). The lowest microhardness values were obtained from the Icon group. According to AFM examinations, the Curodont group showed the highest surface roughness values, and the lowest surface roughness values were obtained in the fluor applied group. SEM images confirmed the AFM findings. Considering its effect on both surface roughness and microhardness, Curodont was not successful in obtaining a smoother and more robust enamel structure after stripping.
