Abstract (EN)

INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE: In this study, it had aimed to propound the effects of tumor budding and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes on prognostic factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 152 cases diagnosed as intestinal type gastric adenocarcinoma in Sakarya Training and Research Hospital, had subtotal/total gastrectomy between years 2010-2019, hadn't taken any preoperative treatment, had assigned. Tumor budding and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes classified as low, moderate and high. Correlation between grade of tumor budding and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes and clinicopathological relation had investigated. RESULTS: Statistical analyses substantiates correlation between high tumor budding activity and histologically poor differentiation, lymphovascular and perineural invasion, advanced pT and pN stage, advanced clinical stage (p<0,0001). Correlations between dwindling intensity of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes and lymphovascular/perineural infiltration (p:0,005 and p:0,021 respectively) had determined. Intensity of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes is in inverse ratio with tumor stage and regional lymph node metastasis (p<0;001, p:0,034 respectively). Correlation between intensity of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes and tumor's histological grade couldn't been proved. Neither tumor budding, nor intensity of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes express significant correlation between sex and age. CONCLUSION: Tumor budding and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes are found correlated with prognostic factors. These two histological parametres acquit with valuable informations about treatment procedure and patient's clinical outcome, should get into stomach cancer reporting system.
