Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to explain the psychosocial difficulties and support needs of young people between the ages of 18-24 who have attempted suicide. The research is in descriptive qualitative design. The study was conducted with volunteers between the ages of 18-24 who applied to the Adult Emergency Service of Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir with a suicide attempt (n=16). In the collection of the data of the research, a 'personal information form' and a 'semi-structured interview form' prepared in accordance with the literature in accordance with the qualitative research method and a voice recorder regarding the introductory features created by the researchers using the literature were used. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Content analysis method, which is one of the qualitative data analysis methods, was used in the evaluation of the data. After a suicide attempt, young people experience difficulties in many dimensions and they need support in relation to these dimensions. As a result of the research, six themes emerged regarding the psychosocial difficulties and support needs of young people who have attempted suicide. These themes are; striving to return to the old normal, living with the remains, needs, obstacles in seeking help, awareness and suggestions. As a result, young people who have attempted suicide have difficulties in psychosocial areas after the attempt and need support to cope with these difficulties. After a suicide attempt, young people are at a high risk in terms of repeated suicide attempts. While providing post-intervention care to these young people, it is necessary to take these experiences of the young people into consideration.
