Provocation to suicide (TPC art. 84)

Suicide, which has been the subject of philosophical debates since the days of Ancient Greece and has constituted the common field of study for many disciplines, primarily psychology, medicine and sociology, is, without doubt, a case of great importance in respect of law. "Suicide" or "suicide attempt" acts are not punitive acts however certain acts concerning the suicidal or pre-suicidal behaviours of others are regarded as crimes within the current Turkish legal order. Within the scope of this study, through which the aforementioned acts are studied, article 84 of the 5237 numbered Turkish Penal Code is thoroughly addressed and a comprehensive analysis is tried to be produced.
