Abstract (EN)
Purpose: The aim of our study is to demonstrate the effectiveness of flow diverter stents used in intracranial aneurysms; evaluation of the relationship between efficacy and aneurysm type, size and location, early and late complications; to show which complications may be related to the conditions before and during the procedure. Material and Method: 153 aneurysms belonging to 122 patients who were treated with flow diverter stent between July 2010 and June 2020 in the interventional radiology unit of our department and met the criteria were included in the study. Demographic data of patients; size, type and localization of aneurysms; success in stent placement during the procedure, complications; Occlusion rates of aneurysms, late complications, morbidity and mortality rates were evaluated in the follow-up period after the procedure. Descriptive statistics and frequency values were evaluated. Pearson Chi-Square Test was used to evaluate the relationship between total occlusion rates and the characteristics of aneurysms. A p value less than 0,05 was accepted for statistically significant difference. Results: 90 (73.8%) of the patients included in the study were female and 32 (26.2%) were male, and the mean follow-up period was 26.8 months. Complete occlusion was observed in 115 of 140 aneurysms of 110 patients with follow-up imaging. The rate of complete occlusion of the aneurysm was found to be 82.1%. During the follow up period, permanent morbidity associated with flow diverter stent was 4 (3.5%) and mortality was 4 (3.5%). Conclusion: Flow-diverting stents are a method with high aneurysm occlusion rates, low morbidity and mortality, which can be successfully applied in many aneurysm types from small aneurysms to large and giant aneurysms in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms.
