Abstract (EN)

The aim of our study; The aim of this study was to observe the efficacy of hesperidin given by gavage method in the early period of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome/Acute Lung Injury induced by acid aspiration model in rats. The parameters we evaluated were histopathological changes in the lungs and arterial blood gas analysis. In our study, 21 wistar female rats were used. Rats were randomly divided into 3 groups. Control group: Group K, the group in which ARDS was created by intratracheal HCI administration; Group H: The group in which ARDS was created by HCl aspiration and intragastric Hesperidin was given by gavage method; Group S: The group in which ARDS was created by intratracheal HCl administration and intraperitoneal steroid was administered. Rats were anesthetized by intraperitoneal administration of ketamine. After intratracheal HCl administration to rats, the time we expected to detect findings compatible with ARDS was planned as 6 hours. During this period, the rats were kept under observation. Intracardiac blood gas was taken from all rats 6 hours after intratracheal HCl administration and they were sacrificed. After the rats were sacrificed, lung resection was performed to evaluate the lung tissues histopathologically.. Lung preparations were scored for Acute Lung Injury in the medical pathology laboratory. Blood gases were studied in the medical biochemistry laboratory. Lung injuries and blood gas results were analyzed statistically. We found that hesperidin administration and intraperitoneal steroids were not effective in rats with experimental ALI/ARDS, both in histopathological and blood gas analyses. Our results did not show any statistically significant difference in lung injury histopathological evaluation scores and blood gas parameters in both groups. We believe that a larger, comparative experimental study should be conducted in this area, using more experimental animals. Keywords: Acid Aspiration, ALI, ARDS, Methylprednisolone, Hesperidin
