Özet (EN)
In this study first of all dc motors drive systems were compared with the ac motor with drive systems. Here, it is concluded that synchronous motor should be used in high power applications. In addition, inverter and direct frequency converter structures were investigated. Especially it is observed that synchronous motor drive systems, fed from a matrix converter which provides 4-quadrature operation in unity power factor can be an alternative to inverter fed drive system. From this point first control methods of synchronous motor fed by an inverter were investigated in open loop, and self control. These control methods were studied in detail for the synchronous motor fed by six stepped square waveform inverter by building MATLAB/Simulink models. Also the effects of damper winding and saliency on the dynamic and steady state performance of self controlled sychronous motors were investigated. This investigation were presented comparatively for each of the situations of current source, or voltage source inverter-fed synchronous motors. In the next step 3-phase matrix converter structure and control mechanisms were investigated. In addition matrix converter employing the simplified Venturini algorithm was dealed in detailed. Matlab/Simulink models of RL load and synchronous motors fed from the converter using this algrotihm were build and explored. Then MATLAB/Simulink models of open loop v/f and closed loop control of matrix converter-fed synchronous motor were built and studied. The results belong to unity power factor and 4-quadrature operation of synchronous motors fed by the matrix converter were presented. The effects of damper winding and saliency on the dynamic and steady state performance of the self controlled matrix converter-fed synchronous motor were investigated. Also an experimental drive system of 3-phase matrix converter to control synchronous motor was implemented. Simulation and experimental results of direct feeding the RL load, and synchronous motor by this drive system, using the simplified Venturini algorithm. Also simulation and experimental results belong to direct and open loop v/f control of matrix converter-fed synchronous motors were investigated and compared.
