Özet (EN)

As the seventh most common cancer in women globally, ovarian cancer (OC) is among the most common gynaecological malignancies. Women of every age group are impacted. Of all ovarian cancers, epithelial tumours account for the vast majority. A higher chance of getting ovarian cancer has been linked to many of the risk factors. One of these molecules is E-cadherin (CDH1), which exerts several functions in cellular structure, cell adhesion signalling, and epigenetic changes such as promoter methylation have been linked to increased metastatic potential. E-cadherin (CDH1) is involved in many critical cellular processes, including cell-cell interactions and cell development, and genetic changes of this molecule have been associated with more significant tumour metastasis. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate whether there is any evidence that the CDH1 (rs16260) polymorphism, thought to influence the risk of ovarian cancer, is associated with the disease. This thesis study aims to investigate the relationship of the disease with CDH1 (rs16260) polymorphism, We had two groups: the patient group with ovarian cancer (n= 48) and the health control group (n=48). Genotyping analysis of both groups was determined by Real-Time PCR, and the SPSS program performed the statistical analysis of the data. According to our results, CC genotype (homozygote wild type) was found in 17 individuals (35.5%), CA genotype (heterozygote type) in 22 (45.83%), AA genotype (homozygote variant type) in 9 (18.75%) in the control group statistically. In the patient group, genotype distributions were determined as 23 (47.9%), 18 (37.5%), and 7 (14.5%), respectively. no significant relationship in comparison with genotypes between patient and control groups (p=0.4981). in conclusion present study revealed that C/A genotype of rs160260 (–160 C > A) polymorphismis is not associated with Ovarian Cancer in Turkey.
