Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of edge effect, altitude, stand structure, site index and development era on the populations of Ips sexdentatus (Boern.), which make damage to coniferous forests, were evaluated. In order to determine the effect of these factors on coniferous forests, researches were carried out on Kastamonu-Taşköprü Dikmen Forestry District Scots pine forests (Pinus sylvestris L.) and Black pine forests (Pinus nigra Arn.) between the years of 2012-2013. Pheromone traps have been used in the study to investigate the effects of certain stand characteristics (stone composition, edge effect, site index, etc.) on the biology and density of the pests. The pheromone traps were hung due to stand characteristics and then I. sexdentatus species were counted which were controlled by 7-10 day periods. At the end of the study: 1) The number of pests coming to the edge of the stand and out of the stand was significantly higher than inside of stand, 2) the length of the I. sexdentatus falling on the pheromone which are on the stand edge, were significantly longer than in the stand, 3) The number of pests caught in pure stands were found significantly higher that mixed stands, 4) The length of I. sexdentatus caught in mixed and pure stands has no significant difference, 5) density of I. sexdentatus were greater in stands with site index-III than those with site index-I, 6) There is not a significant difference between the lengths of the I. sexdentatus in the index-I and index-III, 7) Density of I. sexdentatus were found significantly higher north aspect than south aspect, 8) Length of I. sexdentatus individuals in the south aspect were found significantly longer than Length of I. sexdentatus individuals in the west aspect, 9) There was no significant difference between the number of I. sexdentatus in the lower and upper altitude.
