Abstract (EN)

Internet, which is used widely today, occured as a result of connection of millions of computers each other over thousands of networks. In every past day, new computers and networks have been added to this structure and development of it is going on. In such a big structure, communication of two computer which are connected to each other is possible only if they find each other. Various addresing protocols have been developed to obtain this. The most common of these protocols is IP(internet protocol) which takes its name from internet. Present version of the IP is named as version 4. IP version 4 (IPv4) adress is 32 bits and allows addressing computers little over 4 billions. The reasons such as not anticipating of growing of internet like this, appearing of necessities of new services and using of present address space unproperly have lead to be insufficient of Pv4 which is used for addresing protocol of today?s internet. While necessities of new services want to change general structure of Pv4, finishing of address space bring out necessity of wider addres space. While internet is growing fast, finishing of addresses have lead to stop this growing. By this growing speed, computers and networks over internet will 2 arrive a state where present IP structure can?t stand. It is needed a structure which is new and have wider address space for continuity of fast growing of internet. In addition, requests such as to distinguish voice and video which are needed to be transmitted instantly from other data types and to determine priorities of transmission according to service types by defining rules on the routers over transmission way need modifications over internet structure. Because of limits which have arised in IPv4 and are mentioned above, a newer version of IP which have a wider address space and is flexible to cover growing necessities is planned. Because IPv5 is used as a test protocol, name of new IP version have been given as internet protocol version 6 (IPv6). While growing of IPv6 is going on, a question ?how will transition be from IPv4 to IPv6? has been occured. In this study, general structures of these two protocols have been examined and a IPv6 tunnel and virtual target IP techniques for transition process from intenet protocol version 4 to intenet protocol version 6 has been improved.
