Folklore monograph of Altunkopru district of Kirkuk province

Altunkopru district, is an important Turkmen subdistrict on the Kirkuk- Erbil highway and railway, 44 km North West of Kirkuk. This bridge, which has a very comperehen sive structure and history, is considered one of the important places of Kirkuk Turkmens. For this reason, the district has a very rich structure named "Folklore Monograph of Altunkopru District of Kirkuk province", which is examined in terms of culture consists of three parts. In the first part, the presence of Turkmen tribes, social structure of Iraqi Turkmen, ethnic and population distribution, religious structure, Turkish settlements, History of Kirkuk, political associations belonging to the Iraqi Turkmen. Historical- geographical, social structure, economy, population movement, human status of Altunkopru district of Kirkuk province and finally Turkmen Turkish, spoken and written language in Iraq. In the second part, the region's oral cultural products are examined, these products are grouped under separate prayers, Curses, Proverbs, İdioms, Rhymes, Lullabies, Mani, Ballad, Caress and Epic. After compiling and examining each oral statement, it was written according to the characteristic of the Kirkuk dialect. In the third part, it is collected under the heading daily life of the region and general knowlwdge. In this section, celebrations of the transitional periods of life, cemeteries in Kirkuk and the tradition of tombstones and beliefs were made. Folk studies, folk calendear, folk medicine, traditional nutrition and food culture, clothing, holiday celebrations, birth celebrations, traditional architecture and cradtsmanship of the area are shown as cultural and material values of the region. In addition, the information examined was compared with the regions of Turkish culture. In the concluding section, recommendations for research on the district are included.
