A review on the qualifications of Turkish teachers working in Iraq

In the light of the importance of the teacher factor in language education, this study aims to determine the proficiency of Turkish teachers working in Turkish education in Iraq by examining the current situation and to offer solutions for increasing the proficiency levels of teachers. Case study, one of the qualitative research models, was used in the study. Accordingly, in order to examine the education processes of Turkish teachers in Iraq and their current situation, the schools where these teachers work were visited and the teachers' work in the classroom was observed, and their qualifications such as the methods they applied and their classroom management skills were examined. The study group of the research was formed in the 2019-2020 academic year (Dogus Girls Secondary School, Musalla Boys High School, Ibn Esir Boys Secondary School, Barış Boys Secondary School, Barış Boys Secondary School, El-Rafideyin Girls' High School, Çağdaş Boys' High School, Ülker Girls' Secondary School, Korya Girls' High School. High School, Parlak Boys Secondary School and İpek Girls Secondary School) and the administrators working in these schools. Observation, interview and document analysis techniques were used in data collection. The lectures of the teachers in the study group were observed, interviews were conducted with both teachers and administrators, Arabic documents on the constitutional and cultural rights of Iraqi Turks, information and documents published by the Iraqi Government, the Iraqi Ministry of Education and similar institutions were analyzed. As a result of the examinations made, suggestions were made for the problems experienced by Turkish teachers in training in Iraq and for improving the proficiency levels of Turkish teachers.
