Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to analyze the socio-political and cultural transformation of Iran and the position of women through poetry and films of Forugh Farrokhzad as an artist, a poet, a director, and a woman was born into this period. The process of modernization in the 19th and 20th centuries, especially in the Eastern countries, was experienced in Iran as well. The Economic, social and political modernization program that started in the last period of Qajar and continued during Reza Shah and his son Mohammad Reza Shah period, called the Pahlavi era brought socio-political and cultural transformations. The modernization process in Iran led to the politicization of Iranian poetry. Politicization of poetry that started with Constitutional Movement continued with Nima Yusij who was founder of the New Poetry Movement and Forugh Farrokhzad was also one of the representatives of New Poetry Movement expressed the woman suffering, the conditions of society and regime criticism in her poetry. The process of modernization has also shown itself in Iranian Cinema. The Directors of Intellectual Cinema, including Forugh Farrokhzad who used cinema as a tool of expressing the conditions of the period produced films that criticized the Shah regime and stressed the problems that society had to struggle with.
