Abstract (EN)

The symbols were essential in the meanings and the humanbeing's indication of power, hate, God, religion and etc.In addition, the symbols have played very important role in transmission the information and the existing energies with the help of accumulation and application instruments throughout the human history.As far as its symbolic reflections in modern Iranian graphic design and intersection points with history are concerned, arrangement, direction and even interpretation of existing information stand out. At this point, discipline of symbols and application of meaning transfer met in the graphic designs.The thesis entitled "Symbolic Reflections in Modern Iranian Graphic Design" presents a general outlook about the approach and analysis of symbols, combination of historical symbols and motifs which were obtained from ancient works of today as a result of explanations concerning the social, cultural, political and art history of Iran in graphic design. At first, in order to frame and grasp the subject deeply and well it has been presented the researches on the history of influence of Iranian culture and art on politics. And then, it has been examined the mythology and the relations between rituals and symbols and the meanings of symbols in different times have been studied in thesis. At this point, the thesis has surveyed the selected samples concerning the historical symbols and elements of Iran by classifying them in detail. In the last chapter, the modern graphic design history of Iran has been analyzed in three different periods by presenting the symbolic works and their craftsmen.
