Examining the relationship between work-family conflict and job satisfaction: A study in the education sector

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between work-family conflict and the job satisfaction of teachers working in public or private schools affiliated with the provincial directorate of national education in the province of Erzincan. In our research, first of all, a literature review on the subject was made. The participants were asked questions about the "work-family conflict" they experienced and the "job satisfaction" they received from their job. The questionnaire technique was used as a data collection tool in this study. In this direction, as the research universe, public or private schools affiliated with the provincial directorate of national education in the province of Erzincan were determined as the application area. 230 teachers participated in the research. SPSS 22.0 package programs were used in the analysis of the data collected by the survey method. A frequency table was created for sociodemographic questions. T-Test and One-Way ANOVA Analysis were applied to see the differences in the group means of the variables. Pearson correlation analysis was applied to determine the direction and strength of the relationship between scales and sub-dimensions. Simple linear regression analysis was applied to see the effect of the job satisfaction scale on the work-family conflict scale. As a result of the study, no significant difference was found between teachers' gender, having children, marital status and age, and work-family conflict. A significant difference was found between professional seniority, work-family conflict, and job satisfaction, and there was a significant difference between age and job satisfaction. In the hypothesis tests made as a result of the data obtained, an inverse relationship was determined between work-family conflict and job satisfaction.
