Investigating the relation of work-family conflict, employee performance and work stress: A research on accommodation businesses employees

One of the topics that have an effect on today's business world is the relation between the professional and family life of employees. This study has been conducted with the aim to investigate the relation of work-family conflict, family-work conflict, work stress and employee performance. A questionnaire form with three scales was prepared to be used in the research. This questionnaire form is used with an aim to measure the mentioned variables. The research is conducted on employees of 3,4 and 5 star accommodation businesses in the East Black sea Region. By means of package tours, frequency analysis, the Kruskal Wallis test, Mann-Whitney U test, correlation analysis, regression analysis, path analysis and intermediary effect analyses have been applied. As a result of the analyses it has been concluded that work-family conflict has an effect on employee performance, and that work-family conflict and family-work conflict have an effect on work stress. It has also been found that work stress plays a full intermediary role in the effect of work-family conflict on employee performance, but that it has no intermediary role in the effect of family-work conflict on employee performance. It has been determined that work-family conflict, family-work conflict, work stress and employee performance have shown differences in some demographic variables.
