Abstract (EN)
Humans, who are increasingly alienated from nature, produce many wastes in their living spaces as a result of the interaction of cultural, economic, social and physical dynamics. Most of the waste in the world is produced in urban areas and approximately 10-30% of it as construction and demolition waste (CDW) originating from the building sector. Sustainable construction waste management should be developed to ensure the recovery of these wastes. Asbestos and its types, which are harmful to health and the environment, especially in construction and demolition wastes, should be examined as a separate heading in waste management. This situation reveals the importance of occupational health and safety (OHS) in waste management. Minimizing construction and demolition wastes through recycling minimizes all risks to both the environment and OHS. Within the scope of the thesis studies, Rietveld XRD, TGA/DTA and FTIR analyzes were carried out on the samples taken from the buildings that have undergone urban transformation and are under construction in the Menekşe Evleri and Bahçeşehir Mahallesi regions of Yozgat. As a result of these comprehensive analyzes, asbestos and its types (serpentine and amphibole) were investigated in the samples. As a matter of fact, asbestos types chrysotile and amosite were found in cement and ceramic waste materials in old and new buildings. In the results of Rietveld XRD qualitative analysis, it was determined which element or compounds the substance consists of and in which percentage (%) each of these elements or compounds is. It has been observed that these results are supportive when we look at the IR spectra and thermal analyzes of the samples. When the analysis results are examined, it is noteworthy that it is important to develop a waste management that is sustainable in the prevention, reduction or disposal of such wastes and complies with the provisions of the Regulation on Health and Safety Precautions in Work with Asbestos, published in the Official Gazette dated 25/1/2013 and numbered 28539 study has been done.
