He importance of education in occupational health and safety: A study on occupational health and safety awareness of university students

The aim of this study; It is to measure the occupational health and safety awareness of the students by investigating the level of occupational health and safety training given in universities. In addition, it will be investigated whether the gender, age, class and grade point average of the students cause a difference in occupational health and safety awareness. In this study, a survey was conducted on the Occupational Health and Safety awareness level of 287 students from Çankaya University Faculty of Architecture. The statistical analysis of the questionnaire, which was prepared according to a 5-point Likert scale, was made with the SPSS 20 package program. The applied questionnaire consists of items containing data to measure the demographic and occupational health and safety awareness level. 100 full points represent 100% Occupational Health and Safety Awareness. According to the normality analysis, it was seen that the data were normally distributed and parametric tests were used in the analysis. As a result of the analysis, the OHS awareness level of the students participating in the research was found to be 65.2% in a positive way. The fact that the OHS awareness level of university students is at a medium level indicates the necessity of giving place to Occupational Health and Safety trainings at all levels of the education system.
