Abstract (EN)
Discrimination is a concept that brings about many negative results against the person discriminated, and such results include exclusion, alienation and unfair and unjust treatment. The age factor comes out as one of the reasons for discriminatory treatment. As a rule, while being or not being at a particular age does not justify worse treatment, people are treated differently than others due to their age as part of age discrimination. As the age factor is variable, there is no fixed approach for this type of discrimination as opposed to other types of discrimination. Therefore, there are differences in terms of imposing age discrimination, and most of the time, neither the person that imposes age discrimination nor the person that is exposed to such discrimination is aware of this situation. This study aims at emphasizing age discrimination in the field of Labour and Social Security Law, raising awareness about this type of discrimination and drawing attention to the measures that must be taken in this regard.
