Examining the effect of job meaning on compassion fatigue in the framework the subject of virtues

This study, which aims to examine the effect of the meaning of work on compassion fatigue within the framework of the subject of virtues, aims to examine the effect of the levels of being virtuous and, accordingly, the levels of finding work meaningful of working individuals on the levels of experiencing compassion fatigue. The participants in the study consist of professionals working in the field of mental health. The universe of the study consists of psychiatrists, psychologists and nurses working in psychiatric services in hospitals in the city center of Tokat. Data were collected in the study using the Meaning of Work Scale, Compassion Fatigue Short Scale and Personal Virtues Scale. In the analysis of the data; reliability analysis, descriptive statistical analyses, correlation analysis, regression analysis and moderator variable analysis were performed using SPSS (Statistical Package Program for Social Sciences) and additionally the Process Macro add-on added to SPSS. According to the findings obtained, it was concluded that the meaning of work and its sub-dimensions negatively affect compassion fatigue and its sub-dimensions and that virtues have a moderator role in the relationship between the meaning of work and compassion fatigue.
