Abstract (EN)
This thesis study questions the contribution of using visual education methods and mobile technologies to learning in order to eliminate the deficiencies in language and perception development of hearing impaired children. In the research, it was determined that the dictionaries and educational books created for hearing impaired individuals were ignored in terms of visual communication. A method that tries to describe with a single-frame photograph, devoid of lips, facial expressions and body movements, which have a very important place in sign language, is insufficient. To solve these problems; It is predicted that the Mobile Visual Dictionary design, created in line with visual communication and visual perception theories, will be much more useful than two-dimensional pdf dictionaries and books. In the first part of this study, the evolution of the alphabet and the historical adventure of visual communication, how cave drawings turn into symbols and sound sets over time are analyzed. The relationship between rhetoric, semiotics and visual perception theories with sign language has been questioned. In the second part, the education methods being applied for the hearing impaired were examined, the knowledge of the field was formed and the main problems were determined. With the data obtained, a concept for each letter in the Alphabet was designed with the Kinetic Typography method. The word was prepared for mobile application by videotaping the live model's lips, facial expressions and body movements. Turkish Sign Language (TİD) finger alphabet font design was made and our sign language font deficiency in computer and informatics environment was eliminated. Finally, Visual Communication Dictionary named TIDGIS enriched with multimedia elements has been designed and tested in informatics environments and android system.
