Relationship between emphatic tendencies and classroom management skills of the teachers working in hearing-impaired schools

The purpose of this research was made to examine the relationship between Emphatic Tendencies with Clasroom Management Skills of teachers, working in Hearing-İmpaired schools.The framework of this research is Administrators and Teachers, working in the Hearing-İmpaired schools in Istanbul of the 2012-2013 academic year.174 teachers are participated in the survey sample in this universe.Research on the datas were collected with Emphatic Tendency Scale and Clasroom Management Skills Scale.In the first part of three part-scale is about personal informations,the second part is a emphatic tends to measure 20 expression of attitude, and the testimony of the third section is about 40 ratings given to measure clasroom management skills.The Datas obtained from scales,coded and analyzed using SPSS package program. The frequency and percentage distribution was taken about the datas on the first part of the scale,in order to determine perceptions and attitudes of teachers, arithmetic mean and standart deviation; for the binary comparisons to classify the difference between attitudes `?t?? test and Mann Whitney U test for the groups more than two variables were used.Whether there is a significant difference between opinions was tested on the a=0,05 significance level.The findings of the research are as follows;1)Emphatic tendency level for the teachers were found to be at the level of averages.2)Emphatic tendencies of female teachers were found to be highly than male teachers.Those teachers seniority who has with 1-5 years with 11-15 years experience had higher level of emphatic tendency than 6-10 years.3)According to Teachers marital status, age, work location,graduation,branch, communication or studying of emphathy; there was not found significant difference on their level of emphatic tendency.4)Classroom Management Skill level of teachers , were found to be at averages.5)According to Teachers genders , marital status,age,graduation,seniority,branch,school type,work position and communication and studying of empathy; there was not found significant difference about their classroom management skill level between the groups.6)As a result of Pearson Correlation analys,which conducted to determine the relationship of Emphatic Tendency Scale and Classroom Management Skills Scale,relationships between scale scores was not found statically significant.KEY WORDS: Special Education, Hearing-İmpaired, Empathy, Classroom Management Skill.
