Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the earthquake performance of Isabey Mosque minaret, built in 16th century in Selçuk district of İzmir with experimental data after a temporary reinforcement. In the proposed study, it is aimed to increase the resistance of the stone / brick masonry minarets classified as in historical buildings to earthquake and external effects by increasing the current state of historical structure (structural texture and appearance) with the least permanent interventions and to determine the structural effects of this protection method on the minaret. In this perspective, effects of temporary support scaffolding were evaluated for the earthquake performance of a historical minaret in the computer environment. In the present study, if a historical minaret is supported with wooden scaffolding system classified as temporary reinforcement, its behavior under earthquake will be examined. The temporary wooden scaffold system was limited the horizontal displacement of the minaret. However, since the minaret and the wooden pier are two separate structural systems, the horizontal displacements under the influence of horizontal loads (earthquake loads) was caused the horizontal forces to be formed at the contact points of the scaffold system on the minaret. These horizontal forces was affected the behavior of the minaret under the effect of earthquake loads. Numerical analysis of minaret-quay interaction was performed in this study.
