Abstract (EN)

This study examines the relationship among workaholism, marital satisfaction, and self-esteem. For this purpose, this study was designed using the relational survey model. The study sample consists of 260 employees employed in Sakarya province. Data were collected via personal information forms and standardized scales. According to the findings obtained from the data analysis, the employees' marital satisfaction levels were close to the highest score that can be obtained from the scale. It was found that marital satisfaction scores differed significantly according to gender, which is one of the demographic characteristics of the employees, and the marital satisfaction levels of male employees were significantly higher than those of female employees. It was determined that marital satisfaction levels did not differ significantly according to education level, duration of marriage, age, position held, sector of employment, and length of service in the organization. According to the findings obtained in the study regarding self-esteem levels, it was concluded that the participants had moderate self-esteem. It was determined that there was no significant difference in the self-esteem of the participants according to the variables of gender, age, marriage duration, education level, sector of employment, and working time in the current organization; it was found that the self-esteem scores of the upper-level employees were significantly higher only according to the position of employment. According to the findings related to the level of workaholism in the study, it was concluded that the participants had an average level of workaholism. When the difference tests related to demographic characteristics were examined, it was found that the level of workaholism differed significantly according to gender, and women had higher workaholism scores, while the level of workaholism did not differ significantly according to educational status, marriage duration, age, position, sector and working time. There was no statistically significant relationship between marital satisfaction levels and workaholism levels of the participants. Likewise, no significant relationship was found between the self-esteem levels of the employees and their workaholism levels. In the last part of the study, the findings obtained were discussed in the light of the previous literature, and suggestions were made to practitioners and researchers.
