The Belief of the hereafter in Islam and the reincarnation

V ABSTRACT THE BELIEF OF THE HEREAFTER IN ISLAM AND THE REINCARNATION Mustafa ÜNVERDİ Master Degree Thesis, The Department Of The Basic Islamic Sciences Supervisor: Doç. Dr. Halife KESKİN June, 2003, 188 pages. The blief of hereafter (Ahiret) is one of the Islam's basic religious faith. According to this faith, people won't be nonexistence when they die. The meaning of death is passing to the next world. And, the hereafter begins with life of grave. In the other word, the name of life between death and doomsday is called 'Berzah." After doomsday people will resurrected again. Resurrection will be realized by return of souls to their bodies. Also, it will be first step for hereafter life. Resurrection by soul and body is very important in Islamic thought. We have to say that, Islamic theologians agree to the resurrection will realized by return of souls and bodies. The meaning of reincarnation is born of souls in different bodies. By the way the soul has immortality by going around the bodies after death. This blief based on think of soul. In opinion of reincarnation the body isn't important. In this respect, person can change a lot of bodies in different lifes. The blief of reincarnation claims that souls must evolution by transmigration. Besides, according to reincarnation doctrine there won't be another world after this life which called hereafter. Soul will rise to well souls by evolution life by life. In our studies and other works in this field, in opinion of reincarnation there isn't blief of hereafter that people will be punished or rewarded because of their behaivors, actions and works. It's clear that reincarnation is disagree with Islam, especially in two ideas: One of them is that the soul is the most important side of human but body is unimportant. The other one is that reincarnation refuses hereafter in other world. However Islam, accept that human is a complete animate with soul and body. For this reason, human is valuable not only with his soul but with his body. Also, Islam promise that people will be rewarded or punished at hereafter because of their performances in this world. In addition, Qoran explain that human will be resurrected by his body and soul. It's very understandable in the Qoran's message. Keywords : Qoran, hereafter, body, soul, reincarnation.
