Evaluation of defense and combat sports in terms of Islamic law

Abstract (EN)

Defense and martial sports, which constitute an important part of the sport include many sports that give the person the ability to defend and attack. Nowadays, status of these sports, which have a high audience and applicability , constitutes various discussions in terms of Islamic Law. It is stated that it is not permissible due to being hit by body and face, risk of injury, permanent damage and death, negative psychological effects, damage to human dignity and dignity, competition conditions and environments containing elements of other beliefs and negative effects on women. On the other hand, because of their contribution to health, ability, strength and endurance acquisition, positive psychological effects, social gains, young people to provide control and protection opportunities and the function of the communiqué,these sports are welcomed. Our assessment reveals that the competition and training dimensions of defense and martial sports should be evaluated separately. Although it is subject to general sports rules of Islam, it is seen that their education is permissible and that there is no harm in the kind of competitions where protection and hardness levels are mild but, those that are unprotected and hard strokes are not permissible.
