The kehanet in Arap saciety of-Islam

Soothsaying, which has a very important place in ancient societies? social life, had also a very significant role defining life styles of Arabic society before Islam. Thus our study of soothsaying in this frame, has taken that age?s people?s interest of the soothsayers in detail. During this study, the preferred sources were bibliographic works and social thematic works. Besides these dictionaries, hadith works, commentary books, geography books were among necessary works to look at. After our research it is fixed that; soothsaying is divided into two and among those there are varieties of soothsayings, and the chronological fix of those soothsayers? lives and examples, their physical side?s being spoiled, their wearing styles, their having different mode, etc.. and also it is found out that those soothsayers were half fainted during their soothsaying, moreover they were not only soothsayers but also had a social place
