Abstract (EN)

This dissertation aims to examine the relationship between mobbing practices and organizational commitment. For this purpose, the study is carried out in two different companies in construction industry. Sample group is the 165 employees of these two companies. Employees were given a survey on mobbing and commitment and these are analyzed on SPSS 15.0. Data were analyzed by one of the descriptive statistics Frequencies, One Sample Kolmogorov-Simirnov, Kuruskal Wallis, Correlate-Bivariate Spearman?s, Mann Whitney-U and Chi-Square was used to determine the relationship between the variables. Cronback alpha values were also calculated to indicate the reliability of measurement of corporate loyalty and mobbing. In these analyses, no significant relationship was found between mobbing and organizational commitment and demographic information. The results indicate that increased exposure to mobbing practices in workplaces, caused employees to be less commitment to their companies. Negative relationship was also found between increased mobbing practices and emotional attachment, when examined at related dimensions. Employees? increased commitment resulted in a decrease in intention to quit their jobs and their tendency to lose their trust in the corporation. Increased practice of mobbing seems to cause the employees to consider leaving the company and people tend to lose their expectations and trust in the company. As a result of this study, a negative significant relationship between the frequency of exposure to mobbing practices and corporate loyalty was observed. Under today?s changing circumstances, loyal employees factor seems to be the main determinant of the success of companies. Hence the level of organizational commitment will be increased by minimized practice of mobbing in corporations, which is considered to be a form of psychological abuse.Key Words: Organizational Commitment, Mobbing, Human Resources Management
