Abstract (EN)

Today, there are two crucial points which affect the success of business administrations: Lesdership and motivation. Leaders determine the factors which will positively influence the motivation of their employees; and, by maintaining the continuity of them, they enable their administrations to progress in the direction of their objectives and so achieve ultimate success.In this thesis, in addition to the handling of topics such as the definitions related to leadership, functions of it, the differences between the leader and director, issues such as the definition of motivation and its importance, the devices and theories of it and the factors which affect the motivation are also observed in detail. The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between employee motivation and leadership approaches applied in businesses.In this context, one hundred employees who work at the headquarters of two corporate companies operating in retail industry were selected as the sample group. Six hypotheses developed previously according to the purpose of the study were tested based on the survey results by using SPSS 13.0 which contains various statistical methods and the output of the analysis has been interpreted in accordance with the subject. The two companies labelled as A and B are compared according to the leadership attitudes that the directors have put forward, the expectations of the employees related to the motivation and the present motivation condition. It is seen that there is a striking difference between the companies A and B, in terms of the views of the employees about their directors related to the issue of leadership. When the frequency distribution of both companies are examined, it is observed that the employees of company A have more positive ideas about their directors than the employees of company B. When the expectations of the employees about the issue of motivation are analyzed, it has come to the conclusion that the employees of both companies are thinking in the same way. Lastly, the present motivation conditions of the employees of both A and B companies are observed, it is seen that the employees working in these companies have the same motivation levels.
