The effect of green human resources management practices in organizations on organizational sustainability

Recent developments such as climate change, natural disasters, epidemics, and depletion of natural resources have begun to create deep question marks for the future of the planet. This pessimistic picture that has emerged obliges businesses to follow environmental policies. Human resources units have a great role to play in reducing the carbon footprint of businesses. In this study, the effect of green human resources management practices in businesses on organizational sustainability was investigated, and it was aimed to contribute to the literature on "green human resources management", which has very few studies among both domestic and foreign resources. During the research, the survey method, which is one of the quantitative data collection methods, was used. In line with the permission obtained from Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University Graduate Education Institute, questionnaires were sent to 402 human resources professionals working in the private sector in Turkey, via telephone and e-mail, between August 6 and October 4, 2021, regardless of region. After the analysis of survey data, the effects of demographic characteristics of HR employees on the dimensions of green human resources management and organizational sustainability were investigated. Then, the relationships between green human resource management and organizational sustainability dimensions were examined. It has been concluded that there are statistical differences in the variables examined in the dimensions of green human resources management and organizational sustainability according to variables such as the sector in which the firm is located and the position in the firm. In addition, it has been determined that there are strong relations in general between the green human resources management style and organizational sustainability dimensions
