Organization and evaluation of industrial control and troubleshooting course in accordance with Ismayil Hakkı Baltacioğlu's educational principles: An action research

The purpose of this thesis is to organize and evaluate the industrial control and troubleshooting course delivered under the field of electric and electronic technologies in accordance with Ismayıl Hakkı Baltacıoğlu's educational principles. Thus, the research was designed as an action research which was conducted with 12 volunteer students attending the 11th class of Şehit Gökhan Ertan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School located in Yeşilyurt district of Malatya province during 2016-2017 school year. In line with the purpose of the research, the data were collected via a range of distinct media including lesson plans prepared by the researcher, students' products, research journals, teacher interviews, learner journals and interviews, video records, observation and learner self-evaluation forms. The researcher had the role of participant observer during the observation process as well as the electric teacher implemented the action plans developed according to Baltacıoğlu's education principles decided based on expert opinions. The students products yielded at the end of the study were evaluated by the academicians in the relevant field and professionals. The qualitative data were analyzed using descriptive analysis method. As a result of the study, it was found that according to the expert opinions on how the relevant course can be organized in line with Baltacıoğlu's education principles, the analysis of relevant literature and Baltacıoğlu's works, first of all the principles follow a certain order (Personality, Environment, Labor, Performance, Initiation), thus the action researches were prepared in this regard. It was proved that during the process students engaged in active work step and the products they obtained as a result were satisfactorily fulfilling the criteria of creativity, technical convenience, usefulness and fitness to purpose in general according to the expert opinions, and they believed that this practice contributed them in many aspects. Some suggestions were offered based on the findings of the research.
