Opinions of teachers working in gonen district of Isparta province on environmental pollution

This study aims to examine the views of teachers working in Gonen district and surrounding schools on environmental pollution. The study group of the research consists of a total of 16 volunteer teachers, 6 science and 10 classroom teachers, working in the Gnen district of Isparta and the surrounding schools. In the research, descriptive research method, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. A semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used as a data collection tool in the research. The data obtained with the semi-structured interview form, in which the teachers expressed their opinions, were analyzed by descriptive analysis and content analysis technique. According to the data obtained in the research; It is seen that teachers do not have a deep knowledge about the types of environmental pollution. It is seen that the teachers emphasized the physical environmental pollution superficially created while talking about the structure of the factory in the region and they mentioned the economic activities provided by the factory. It has been concluded that the livelihood in the region is on agricultural activities and the pesticides used reduce the fertility of the soil. In addition, by looking at the opinions of the teachers, it was concluded that the awareness to be created against environmental pollution in people can be achieved through environmental education. The reason why most of the teachers think that environmental pollution has become a threat; based on human-induced environmental pollution. In order to protect the natural structure in the region, village and city people, students and teachers can be made aware. Plans and projects can be designed under a title to reduce environmental pollution. The natural beauties of the region can be promoted by organizing social activities related to the environment.
