Israeli national security and the Palestinian right of return: A conflict between international law and security issues

This research analyzes the case of Palestinian refugee's right to return, and how this right is legal but is not applicable according to the Palestinian-Israeli national security conflict. Still, there is a historical legal background about the right to return since the Nakba until nowadays, many declarations and conventions have been signed to give Palestinian refugees their legal right, which is to return to their own houses and lands, which they were exiled from in 1948. In addition, security refugees could not apply for their right of return, because of Israeli national security issues, which will never allow them to return to their own lands in historical Palestine, because it is now under the security standards. Moreover, the Israeli national security and the Palestinian right of return have current political, social, and legal contexts, which are preventing appropriate solutions under international law perspectives and international relations regulations. However, this can be analyzed by providing a historical context for the Israeli government's definition of national security and how they responded to the Palestinian refugee case.
