Abstract (EN)

The starting point of the study, named ?Assessment of New Housing Areas Developing after Year 2000 in Istanbul? has been examination in respect of substantial areas demanded and environmental conditions and users? preferences as the new housing areas has been increasing very fast in number in our country, particularly, in Istanbul where they were centered regionally.In the second part titled as ?Requirements of Housing and Housing Areas?, the definitions of concepts of demand, need for housing area, housing and housing estate in various sources have been set forth.Afterwards, the historical evolution in Turkey has been studied under the titles such as Pre-Republic period, 1923-1950 Period, 1950-1980 Period and the Period after 2000.In the fourth part titled as ?Spatial Transformation of Housing Areas in Istanbul?, and the housing evolution experienced in Istanbul has also been studied under four separate topics, in parallel to the historical evolution in TurkeyIn fifth part titled as ?New Housing Areas in Istanbul?, a chart has been formed by determining housing areas developed in 2000 after the protected settlements and typologies examined. Afterwards, the data in this chart has been transformed into figures by means of graphic method assessment. The various real-estate announcements, web sites of housing areas, introductory brochures and various periodicals have been employed in this research. In aftermath of all these data gathered and of discussions made with real-estate advisors, the environmental and physical data of housing areas demanded in Istanbul have been studied in detail under separate sub-title.And, in conclusion part, in aftermath of examinations and discussions done, the reasons the housing areas have been preferred for and those who prefer them have been examined.
