Abstract (EN)

After industrial revolution, as a result of the development of industry and mechanization, personal demands have been changed and according to the new supply and demand chart that has been occured, there have been changes in the variations of the new products. Industrial revolution itself and the changes following, became a turning point that spurs to architectural studies and development following these studies. These offered products were brought out with mass production stages and carried on effects with mass housing projects in today's architecture. While generation of products, benefitting of fossil fuels made people come face to face with danger of losing current sources. By the way generating of production by benefitting natural sources has been raised. In this way, making current buildings energy efficient and use less fossil fuels by renovating them has been accelerated. According to these studies one of the issues that is most paid attention on is in current mass housing projects, how the natural environment is being used most efficiently and how to benefit from solar energy and natural sources most efficiently. From the studies about modern architecture, industrial revolution and innovations brougth with the revolution are handled as a turning point that let the developments particularly start and gain acceleration. In this study, information about generation and widespread of mass housing and historical revolution of housing have been mentioned in the second chapter. In the third chapter, the factors that have effects on energy efficiency of mass housing have been searched. The factors that have effects on a mass housing are: • Parameters of natural environment, • Building parameters, • Parameters that affect protection of lighting energy. In the fourth chapter, the mass housing settlements that have a different design concepts on layout plan and different solar gains have been analysed. These different settlement forms are: • First type of detached housing concept, • Second type of detached housing concept, • Block concept. In the scope of this study, Evidea Project has been chosen to put in practice in Çekmeköy as a sample of case study. From this site, heating-cooling and lighting energy consumption with different settlements in mass houses have been calculated. In calculations, Design Builder energy simulation programme has been used. Assessing the results of calculations step by step, various improvement alternatives have been developed for reducing energy consumption. Fıfth chapter is conclusion chapter. In the conclusion part, answering the question of which settlement is the most energy efficient settlement plan and how to make a building an energy efficient building following these improvements have been stated.
