Abstract (EN)
Remote work has become increasingly popular recently due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced most people around the world to experience remote work, and that has affected many aspects of life. The present study embarks on an inquiry into the intricate dynamics between remote work and work-life balance within the context of private universities in Istanbul. The primary objective of this research is to investigate the relationship between remote work and the equilibrium between professional and personal lives among employees within private universities in Istanbul. The research also aims to investigate if demographic variables have an impact on remote working and work-life balance at private universities in Istanbul. A comprehensive survey was administered, involving a total of 203 participants who are employees of these academic institutions. SPSS 25 was used, and different analyses were performed to analyze the data. The findings illuminate a correlation, albeit weak, that portrays a positive connection between the extent of remote work and the achievement of an optimal work-life balance, suggesting that remote work has some positive impact on achieving work-life balance. Moreover, demographic variables such as age, marital status, number of children, and work experience were found to moderate the relationship between remote working and work-life balance. Variables like gender, education level, job position, and administrative vs. academic were not significant moderators in this context.
