Abstract (EN)
The belief originated and symbolic motives are available on the tombstones in İstanbul. These motives were investigated from manuscripts. The most important of these belief originated and symbolic motives are flowers motives (tulips, roses, hyacinths, wheel-i fate). In order, the the others are writings respectively lines, trees, fruit trees and fruit motives, geometric patterns (crescent, moon, stars), daggers and candles motives.The historical Turkish tombstones in İstanbul and the causes of corruption are the effects of atmosphere and the causes that the creatures caused.Clean of the historical gravestones is performed in chemical or machenical ways.Key Words: Old gravestone, belief originated motif, gravestone causedeterioration, gravestone restoration
