Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out to determine the level of Primary School Teacher's job satisfactions in the sub-dimensions of their job satisfactions, the degree of importance which they give to sub-dimensions of job satisfaction; and whether these levels of job satisfaction and the degree of importance show differences according to the individual characteristics of teachers. Additionally, in this research, from the sub-dimensions of job satisfaction: "the way of management", "working conditions", "the conditions of progress and promotion", "colleagues", "physical atmosphere", "payment and personnel"; from the individual characteristics; "gender", "age", "marital status", "the graduated school" and "ranks" were thought on. The research was carried out according to the general scannig model. The Istanbul, 736 class and branch teachers working for 26 public primary school in the administrative district, Beyoğlu became the centre of this research. From these teachers, according to the rule of randomness, 220 teachers were taken into the model with the simple random sampling method to represent the 30 % of this universe. To gather data, "The Job Satisfaction Scale" advanced by Çetinkanat was used. The scale which was planned as Quarted Degreeing Method, was formed of six sub- dimensions and 64 questions, the 32 of which is for perceived situation, and the other 32 of which is for the degree of given importance. In order to analyses the data, the techniques such as "percentage","frequency", "arithmetic mean", "standard deviation", "one-way ANOVA analysis", "t- test" and "LSD test" were made use of. According to the research; such results were found out: 1. The teachers perceived a low level of dissatisfaction in the sub-dimensions of their job satisfactions. Teachers perceived their satisfaction with their view in sub-dimensions: "I agree", in respect of the factors such as "colleagues", "the way of management" and "the possibilities of progress and promotion". Conversely; they perceived low level of dissatisfaction according to their view in sub-dimensions: "I don't agree", in respect of such factors; "physical atmosphere", "payment and personnel" and "working conditions". The teachers perceived the highest degree of satisfaction in the sub-dimension: "colleagues" and the lowest degree of dissatisfaction in the sub-dimension: "working conditions".2. The teachers gave a high degree of importance to the sub- dimensions of job- satisfaction, and stated that the each of these sub-dimensions are very important for themselves. When the greatest importance was given to the sub- dimension: "physical atmosphere"; "colleagues" was determined to be the least important sub-dimension. 3. A significant difference was fixed among the teacher's perceptions, related to sub-dimensions of job-satisfaction in other individual changeable factors except for the changeable factors; "gender" and "marital status". 4. Except for the teacher's changeability of ranks; in the other changeable factors, a remarkable gap was stabilized among the degrees of importance which the teacher gave for the sub-dimensions of job satisfaction. According to the results of this research, different suggestions were presented to practicers and researchers. VI
