A comparative interpretation about mixed-used highrise buildings in İstanbul

At the present time there is an increase of mixed used high-rise building construction inTurkey like the other examples in the rest of the world. Mixed used high-rise building conceptemerges as a combination of high-rise and mixed used building concepts. To consider atlength the rationale of the formation of these structures and their developments, we have firstdiscussed Chicago City, which is considered the origin point. At the next part, similar type ofbuildings in Istanbul have been studied and compared with the ones in Chicago.So this thesis consists of seven part as indicated below:In the first part of the thesis, the objective, content and the method of the thesis is explained.In the second part of the thesis, definition, historical development, existence reasons inrelation with the historical development of Chicago city, their position within this process andtheir interaction with the environment are captured.In the third part of the thesis, the analysis of the mixed used high-rise buildings takes part. Astudy of the function groups in these buildings are explained and followed by examplesoutside of Turkey.In the fourth part of the thesis, historical development of Istanbul city, emerging process ofthese high-rise buildings in Istanbul and reasons why these buildings are built in the city areinterpreted.In the fifth part of the thesis, mixed used high-rise buildings located in İstanbul are studiedand the situation, location and the impact to the city are explained.In the sixt part of the thesis, taking into account the local and international samples we havealready assessed, the comparison of mixed used structures and evaluation will be indicated.In the last part of the thesis, the the evaluation results of all chapters are summarized.Keywords: Mixed Used, High-rise Buildings, İstanbul and Chicagoxi
