Abstract (EN)
Research productivity and collaborations are key elements in advancing scientific knowledge and advancing the university. In higher education, faculty members share and publish new information with each new publication they make in various disciplines of science. In this context, research and publication are almost the main function of the university. The main purpose of this thesis is to examine the scientific research productivity and collaborations of Istanbul University in the field of social sciences. In order to achieve this aim, publications from Istanbul University indexed in the field of social sciences in the Web of Science between 1980 and 2022 were subjected to bibliometric and social network analysis. The findings of the study show that Istanbul University has a publication performance that can be described as productive in the context of its publications indexed in Web of Science. Publication performance in social sciences is lower than in science. On the other hand, it has been determined that the field of social sciences is prone to establish scientific cooperation. Established collaborations are mainly due to interdisciplinary studies of different disciplines. This situation is so great that it affects the bibliometric indicators of publications in the field of social sciences.
