Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to determine to the situation of labour market in Turkey, both in 2009 and 2010, and to evaulate the reasons and what to do by considering analysis results. For this purpose, data mining, which is used in large data sets as a current decision support analysis method is used as the application method. In the scope of of this study, Data Mining Analysis is applied seperately to the Household Labour Survey sets for 2009 and 2010 years, which are provided from TÜİK. 15 years and over, in other words active population is included to the analysis. ?Labour Status?, as target (dependent) variable; ?gender, proximity to the reference state, the last completed school, continuing education, marital status, labour status a year earlier, NUTS1 (Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics) and rural-urban area is identified as independent variables. These data are analysed as using CHAID algorithm by SPSS Clementine program version 11.1. Finally, results of the analysis are evaluated and it?s found that the labour participation rate icreased and unemployment value is reduced for 366.273 persons in 2009 and 384.846 persons in 2010, in consecutive year over the previous year. The employment rate is found as very low in our country while only % 39,95 in 2009 and % 41,4 in 2010. The most effective variable to explain the labour status is the labour status a year earlier. Labour force participation rate is discovered as highest in the region of Marmara, Western Anatolia, the Western Black Sea, while Istanbul and the Eastern Anatolia region have the highest unemployment rate. Disadvantaged groups in the labour market appear women, disabled persons or patients; besides, in terms of gender, labour force participation rate of women in the whole country is deteceted only a third of per men. Finally, it is concluded that especially the rural-urban migration and level of education is very effective on the basis of being a low labour participation rate.
