Abstract (EN)

The basic gases forming dry and clean air are approximately 20.9 percent oxygen, 78.0 percent nitrogen, 0.9 percent argon and 0.03 percent carbon dioxide. Polluting gases are gases that are not normally found in the air. On the other hand, the most likely pathway to chemical exposure is the inhalation, and the presence of pollutants in the air poses a serious risk to human health. These risks can range from chronic illnesses to massive deaths. The air quality is measured by determining the concentration of the outdoor and indoor air pollutants. In this thesis, the most potential inorganic pollutants existing in the workplace atmospheres were defined and their health hazards have been discussed into detail. And in this thesis, exposure limits and analytical methods allowed by the national and İnternational standards of Turkish Standards Institution (TSE), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) have been considered. It is expected that this thesis will be a useful document for analysts and occupational safety experts who will be sampling, analysis and risk assessment for inorganic air pollutants.
