Abstract (EN)

In this study the cultural elements from the "Oblomov" novel written by the Russian classical writer Ivan Aleksandroviç Gonçarov and its three different translations into Turkish were chosen and assessed according to the cultural elements categories and their translation methods developed by Prof. Peter Newmark. 30 examples of cultural elements in the original novel and their equivalents in three translations were picked and explained accordingly. As a result, it was found that eight of the chosen examples were done closely to the adaptation translation method and the rest examples were done using other methods, developed by Prof. Peter Newmark.
