Compering in terms of social critic between Drina Bridge written by Ivo Andric and the Last Days in Drina written by Faik Baysal

Nobel Prize-winning writer Ivo Andric (1892-1975) gained great fame with his work Drina Bridge and wrote about the human drama around the bridge, a 350-year-old historical monument, from the collapse of the Ottoman Empire to World War I, holding a mirror to social events. Faik Baysal (1922-2022), on the other hand, with his work The Last Day in Drina, dealt with the struggle for life of the Turks of Yugoslavia as a result of the invasion of Hitler's Germany and the organization of Serbian and Croatian gangs in the Balkans during World War II. In this study, Drina Bridge, which belongs to Yugoslav literature, and Last Day in Drina, which belongs to Turkish literature, are examined in the light of social literary theory and criticism based on the social norms of two different nations, their perspectives on the period, and certain themes. In the study, information about the theory of social literature is given and the similarities and differences of both works are revealed by taking into account the themes determined.
