Abstract (EN)
The continuation and the advancement of globalization have made good governance especially for the third world countries a basic need. Nation-States around the world are obviously in a competitive quest for improving their political cum-economic structures within and without. The bedrock of a nation development and prosperity is transparent leadership that emerges from good governance. The promotion and insurance of accountable government is not the responsibility of state or private sectors alone, non-governmental organizations have been complementing the efforts of providing good governance in a given society. This research comparatively analyzes the role of civil society organizations in good governance between Nigeria and Tunisia; adopting both quantitative and qualitative analyses. In this regard we shall look at the roles of civil societies in ensuring good governance in both Nigeria and Tunisia using functionalism approach. Both countries have witnessed civil societies who have worked tirelessly in restoration of democracy from authoritarian regimes, building and empowerment of democratic regimes, fighting corruption, fighting terrorism, provision of social services and protection of human right. Finally, we shall conclude that the society with vibrant civil society organizations will surely have high level of good governance or will be where the existence of good governance is highly possible.
