Abstract (EN)
The goal of this study is to evaluate the scale of risk taking behaviors of the apprentices and to determine the facts that affected the results. This study was cross-sectional and the samples are stratified by their profession, classes and sex. After those 381 who were selected randomly, gathered in the conference room at Izmir Bornova Vocational School and data are measured by having them taking the survey and scale of risk taking behaviors. Some of data were eliminated from the analysis, due to incorrect filling of the surveys. The average score of the risk taking behavioral results was 46.7±9.7 (38-104). The final results indicated that the risk taking behaviors didn't have anything to do with socio- demographic characteristics: age, being immigrant, birth place, household characteristics: number of siblings, educational level of their parents, structure of the family, smoking habits in the household, having a criminal in the household, violence in the household, number of siblings who are employed, steady income of parents, social-life characteristics: money spending habits, age of starting to work, reason to give up school, work-life characteristics: length of the working months, number of hours worked per day, number of the peer-workers in the work-place, number of the workers in the work-place, type of the employment. Analysis didn't include the drug use and solvent habits in the family since there was only one reported usage. The facts that statistically change the risk taking behaviors are; socio-demographic characteristics: sex, residency until the age of 14, household characteristics: alcohol use in the family, frequency of arguments in the family, social-life characteristics: smoking and alcohol and solvent and drug habits of the friends, having a criminal, quarrel and violence among friends, getting help from friend when get in trouble, not asking for help when get in trouble, work-life characteristics: number of work days, security at the work place, smoking, alcohol, solvent and drug habits of the co-workers, having a criminal, quarrel and violence among co-workers, enjoying work and number of off days.
